01 / DOWNLOAD

AnyPS5 downloads for Windows and Linux.

Choose the operating system that will run your converted game. Get its relinker and PRX system-library archive from the same GitHub release, then extract the archive.

Windows

The .exe is the command-line conversion tool. The ZIP contains Windows system libraries and their bundled runtime DLLs; keep them together.

Linux

Give the relinker executable permission before running it. Extract the Linux library archive, then use its contents for the runtime layout below.

v0.1.2 was released on October 14, 2026. Use the relinker and libraries from the same release. Later main-branch fixes may require a source build; compare the tag or commit in each game report.

Prefer an in-browser converter?

The project also offers a browser converter that processes files on your device. The converted application still needs the correct desktop runtime libraries and game resources to run.

Building from source or using a Mac?

You can build the relinker on macOS, including Apple silicon. v0.1.2 provides runtime libraries for Windows and Linux; use one of those target systems for a complete release setup. For a source build, follow the compiler and dependency requirements and build both the relinker and the libs target.

02 / SETUP

How to set up AnyPS5.

Use a compatible x86-64 PC with a working Vulkan driver. The v0.1.2 notes select a Vulkan 1.1 device with graphics, compute and presentation support. Prepare your own clean, decrypted ELF and the title’s resource files before starting.

  1. 01

Prepare the input and unpack the tools

Put the downloaded relinker in a working folder. Inside it, create source/ with your clean input.elf and its bundled ELF modules. The relinker recognizes sce_module/, sce_modules/ or prx/; use the directory name from your source. A raw SELF/fSELF container is not a clean ELF input.

    source/
      input.elf
      sce_module/
        bundled clean ELF modules
  2. 02

Convert for your target operating system

Open a terminal in the working folder. Windows requires --windows; naming the output .exe does not select Windows by itself. Replace source/input.elf with your input path and app.exe or app.elf with your desired output filename.

    Windows · PowerShell
    .\relinker-v0.1.2.exe --windows source/input.elf app.exe
    Linux · Shell
    chmod +x relinker-v0.1.2
    ./relinker-v0.1.2 source/input.elf app.elf

Intel CPU: add --to-intel to rewrite supported AMD-specific instructions. It cannot convert AMD-specific code generated by a game at runtime. Use the flags required by the title’s report.

  3. 03

Place libraries and resources beside the output

Create libs/ beside the converted executable and put the extracted AnyPS5 system libraries there. Preserve the release’s bundled runtime dependencies. Copy your title’s resource files into app0/ separately, and keep the converted title modules at the Guest module paths printed by the relinker.

    app.exe / app.elf
    libs/
      *.prx
      bundled runtime dependencies
    app0/
      your title’s resource files
      sce_module/
        converted title modules
  4. 04

Launch from a terminal and keep the result

Start the converted application so that startup messages remain visible. Successful conversion only means the output was produced; missing functions, graphics issues or title-specific blockers can still prevent gameplay. For a report, save the title ID/version, AnyPS5 tag or commit, operating system, CPU, GPU, driver and the first error.

    Windows · PowerShell
    .\app.exe
    Linux · Shell
    chmod +x app.elf
    ./app.elf

04 / UNDER THE HOOD

What is AnyPS5?

AnyPS5 adapts PS5 x86-64 executables for the host operating system. The original machine code is relinked, system calls are served by replacement libraries, and graphics shaders are translated for Vulkan.

  1. 01 / INPUTYour clean ELF

The executable and bundled modules come from your own title files.

  2. 02 / CONVERTRelinker + shaders

The relinker produces host-format executables; the graphics layer recompiles supported RDNA shaders to SPIR-V.

  3. 03 / RUNNative host + PRX

Windows or Linux runs the output with AnyPS5 system libraries and your app0 resources.

What is AnyPS5?
QuestionWhat to expect
Is it a conventional console emulator? The project describes a relinker and host libraries, without a separate emulation process. It still has to implement the console services each title uses.
Does conversion mean a game is playable? No. The title may still stop at an unimplemented function, shader, memory operation or another runtime dependency.
Can it run on every PC?The converted code and graphics path have host requirements. Results depend on the title, CPU instructions, graphics driver and project build.

System-library coverage measures functions currently known to the project, and its denominator grows. Shader instruction coverage is another implementation metric. Neither is a percentage of PS5 games that are playable.

05 / TROUBLESHOOTING

Fix common AnyPS5 startup errors.

Check the folder layout and the build first. Change one thing at a time and keep the terminal output so you can compare results.

Windows error 126, even though the PRX file exists

A dependency of that file may be missing. Keep the runtime DLLs from the Windows release archive in libs/. A source-built setup also needs libgcc_s_seh-1.dll, libstdc++-6.dll and libwinpthread-1.dll from the matching compiler. A copy elsewhere in PATH is not enough for this loader.

Windows error 193 / not a valid Win32 application

Check whether an original PS5 PRX was copied into libs/. That folder is for AnyPS5’s Windows system libraries. The title’s bundled ELF modules must be converted and kept under the generated app0 module paths.

No module directory, or a SELF/fSELF warning

Place sce_module/, sce_modules/ or prx/ beside the clean input ELF, or select a module directory explicitly. Keep both sce_module/ and sce_modules/ from being present together. SELF/fSELF containers need to be converted to clean ELF inputs before relinking.

No suitable Vulkan device or a black window

Read the device and driver messages first. Update the appropriate native Vulkan driver. Set ANYPS5_GPU to part of a device name to select among multiple GPUs. A black window can also mean that the title’s graphics path is incomplete; compare the error with the game’s report.

Linux: /dev/udmabuf permission denied or BDA access failed

On Linux drivers using dma-buf imports, the current user needs read-write access to /dev/udmabuf. Check the distribution’s device and group permissions and log in again after changing group membership. Imports above the device’s size_limit_mb are copied too. This path does not apply to the NVIDIA proprietary driver.

Unimplemented function or an early crash

Find the title’s upstream report and compare the exact tag or commit. A missing implementation may need a newer build or a project fix. Keep the first exception and its surrounding log rather than trying unrelated flags.

The game opens but input or text is missing

For input, check SDL controller mapping and the optional anyps5-input.ini file described in the input guide. Titles using system font sets need the font layout described in USAGE.md; missing fonts can leave their text absent.

06 / GOOD TO KNOW

AnyPS5 questions, answered.

Where can I download AnyPS5?

Download AnyPS5 from boykopovar/AnyPS5 on GitHub. The Releases page provides the relinker and matching Windows or Linux PRX system-library archives.

Is AnyPS5 free and open source?

Yes. The upstream repository is published under GPL-2.0-only. See its LICENSE file for the terms that apply when using or distributing the project.

Does AnyPS5 include PS5 games?

No. You supply your own clean executable, bundled modules and resource files. The release files contain conversion tools and host system libraries.

Can I use AnyPS5 on macOS or Apple silicon?

You can build the relinker on macOS, including Apple silicon. v0.1.2 provides runtime libraries for Windows and Linux. Use a Windows or Linux target for the complete release setup; a working Mac converter alone does not provide a game runtime.

Can I play the converted game in my browser?

The project’s web page converts files locally in a browser. Its desktop output still needs the target operating system, libraries and resources; the converter is not a browser game player.

Is there an AnyPS5 Android APK?

The official v0.1.2 release provides Windows and Linux relinker and system-library files. It does not provide an Android APK or an iOS game runtime.

What are the minimum PC requirements?

Requirements depend on the game and build. The v0.1.2 usage guide specifies a Vulkan 1.1 graphics device with graphics, compute and presentation support, together with OS-specific libraries. There is no universal RAM, GPU-model or frame-rate minimum for every game.

Does high library coverage mean most PS5 games work?

No. Coverage counts implementations within the set of functions known to the project. Games use different combinations of services, shaders and hardware behavior, so a game-specific runtime report is more useful.

Is HY8BIT the official AnyPS5 website?

No. HY8BIT is an independent guide and is not affiliated with Sony, PlayStation or the AnyPS5 project. Downloads and technical references link to the original developers.
